The friendly face of the lane, Dave and his team serve delicious, honest food and coffee - always with a smile and a bit of fun. He likes to talk a lot, bake cakes and do the occasional bout of work.

Are you from Hamilton?
Yes, and then I went wandering around the world and 20 years later landed back here.

Favourite coffee spot/ place to eat on your day off?
Rocket Coffee, The Bearded Weasel (nothing bad comes out of a deep fryer) and Banh Mi Caphe.

What do you do for fun/ to relax?
Talk a lot, drink coffee, walk, listen to music.

How do you deal with hard customers?
I don’t believe in bad customers. Just listen, they to help them and smile.

What is your favourite food of all time?
I love all food. Manjula Dhal is the best. You all should come and try it.

Summer or winter?
Winter. I don’t like it when it’s too hot.

If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?
Wander around the world, talk a lot, drink coffee and eat.

Favourite thing about the lane?
The friends I have made.

What fo you love most about Hamilton?
The people. Walking along the river.

What’s your favourite thing to spend money on?
Food and music.

Any hidden talents?
Yes, and they will stay hidden.

What did you do before getting into this job?
I was a carpenter.

What do you snack on when you’re at work?
I love oats. Porridge in winter. Soaked oats in summer.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Walking at daybreak is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Last Place Bar.
